Security Announcement

There have been several thefts of emergency equipment to date, including several fire axes. These are important pieces of safety equipment and need to be recovered. Therefore, if the axes are not returned to the security office by 9pm tonight the security volunteers will be searching every room until all of the axes are located and returned to the office.

The axes can be dropped off anonymously up until the deadline.

Seriously, people, there are tons of guns everywhere. What the hell are you going to do with an ax?

Ok. Ronnie Camden here.

Yes, I'm the one security guard that people have been seen running around. No, I have no idea what happened to the other guards, and no, I'm not one of those who were in charge to begin with.

But I think I can safely say a few things have gone wrong and while I don't have many answers myself, I will ask a few things, as a hired crew member who's job it is to protect all of you. I intend to continue carrying out this duty to the best of my ability until we are found or until we dock.

1) The ship's weapon cache has been raided. I'm working on bringing that back and securing them in the locked safe. Please, if you see anybody with a weapon, contact me and ask them to give it up. With everything that's been going on and with all of the tension and fear going around, I think most of us can agree that the last thing that needs to happen is for people to start arming themselves.

2) If anybody who's worked in law enforcement or other people who have been working on taking matters into their own hands could contact me, I think there's been a breakdown in communication about who is doing what. I'm not looking to take over anything but I'm still here and I'm still supposed to be doing my job and it would be nice to be kept in the loop of what's going on.

3) If anybody is organizing searches, meetings, or taking action of any kind I would like to know and be in attendance. As a trained crew member I know things about the ship you may not and, again, I can't do my job if I'm not informed as to what people are doing.

4) If anybody notices anything strange about any place, person, or thing, I would like to be notified. the security front office will be open with a box for these observations, and I am of course going to be around for anything you might need. I'm going to be staying in the security office from now on and will work to be as accessible as possible.

5) DO NOT TAMPER with lifeboats, security cameras, fire extinguishers, fire hatchets, doors or locks, or any other piece of safety or ship equipment. Tampering with these may cause them to malfunction when they are needed most. If you see anybody tampering do everything you can to stop them without putting yourself in harm's way, then notify me or any other crew member you might see immediately.

6) As always, please don't panic. This is not the time to let a mob mentality rob us of our senses and wits. Try to calm anybody you see panicking, stay in groups as much as possible. If you see somebody in need help as you can or try find somebody who can if you can't. Nobody signed up for this, but we're all stuck in it together, and unless we make a conscious effort to keep things together it will be all too easy to descend into a dangerous chaos.

Again. Ronnie Camden, still here. Thank you for your cooperation and calm. Remember this isn't a hopeless situation, it's just an unexpected one.

It's occurred to me.

I don't think I want to be a security guard anymore.
